On Sunday March 3rd 2019, RiverMarch celebrated the MUMBAI GREEN HEROES AWARDS 2019 at theTerrapanth Bhava, Kandivali East. It was a grand gathering of all those citizens and Organisations who had supported RiverMarch in its journey for the past four years and have a major role to play in the success of RiverMarch. A beautifully designed trophy with the names of the Organisations , individuals and groups was presented to them by various dignitaries . The Chief Guests were Colonel Amit Bhagi , Commanding Officer, Maharashtra Battalion, NCC, , Public Relations Officer, NCC and our very own Colonel Unni , our veteran River Marcher were the Guests of Honour.
They spoke about the sacrifices done by the Indian defense forces in service to the nations at varied times in service of the country. They shared very inspiring tales about the bravery of the army men during the Kargil war and in Jammu and Kashmir which left the students present and the entire audience very much in awe and highly motivated. Mr. Gopal Shetty, Member of the Parliament for Mumbai North area was also one of the Chief Guests. He extended his greetings to the audience and congratulated River March and the citizens of Mumbai for their efforts in the saving of Mumbai rivers.
He gave his firm support for the RiverMarch activities and informed that he has taken up the issue in the Parliament. He hopes for the full support of Central and State Government in this matter.
One more prominent personality was Mr. Arun Nalavade, a famous Marathi actor. He addressed the audience and emphasized the importance of saving the rivers and the environment. The audience was very inspired with his words.
The Awards were very much appreciated by the Organisations and Schools
