Mumbai Monsoon Masti
The River Marchers throughout the year are engaged in some activities concerned with rejuvenation, clean up, co ordination with government utility service providers. All this is a serious business.
Then comes the Monsoon season in Mumbai.... A time to let down the guard & enjoy the nature in full bloom. As the nature starts rejuvenation in these monsoon rains, a flurry of natural activities can be observed in all forests, mangroves, trees around the city & the city itself gets a very different feel & look altogether
In this season River Marchers take some time off to visit the unknown, less traveled sites around the city to know more about history, architecture & the natural activities of various plants, insects, animal trails, the flora & fauna occurring around this city, take part in various plantation activities. A series of visits on Sunday is planned & River Marchers join together along with the naturalists & experts on each subject in this series called as ' Monsoon Masti' ,experiencing the rains, soaked to skin, enjoying the trails, walks, scenes along with acquiring knowledge all along

NAGLA BUNDER TREK
A wonderful trek in rains, in the forest of Nagla Bunder, on Mumbai Vadodara Highway just across the first creek bridge from the Fountain Hotel. In monsoon the jungle comes alive.
PUNJU ISLAND
This island is just across creek bridge between Bhayandar & Naigaon railway station, need to use the ferry from Naigaon, the only means of transport link to this Island. This island is also known for the 24 freedom fighters, an island so near to main land yet got its electricity connection just some years back in 1990s, an island where there was paddy field cultivation, though it is surrounded by saline creek waters, but across a bund construction, there is water for cultivation. People depend only on the ferry for their transport to main land.

GHOD BUNDER FORT
Now every one has heard about Vasai Fort. but one misses out on the Ghod Bunder Fort situated a bit inside of the Borivali Thane Ghod bunder road, again at the Fountain Hotel junction. On this visit surprised to see the cleanliness maintained in & around it

DEER PARK IN POWAI
Surprised to hear this, yes there is this park once deer were in plenty in this park. Nestled in around Powai lake. a park where one can enjoy the greens, the flow of Mithi river, the water fall on the Powai lake dam and a scenic line where one can enjoy the modern sky scrapers across the waters on the other side sitting on the green forest this side.

AKSA BEACH
River Marchers get together early morning at Aksa beach for a clean up. This beach becomes active quite early in the morning with complete family from toddlers to grand parents joining on the beach. As we started our activities, young children joined us in collection of the plastic waste.

Monsoon Masti continues along with the increase in monsoon activities....
In this series check out the full flow of the Check Dam. The scenic beauty around the check dam along with masti activities of plantation on the way towards Kanheri caves. A look into the rain harvesting system in those times .A glimpse of the origin of Dahisar river from the Kanheri caves area. beauty of forest as the rains fall.
CHOTA KASHMIR
Visit to Chota Kashmir, Aarey forest, Goregaon. A beautiful garden, once known for film shootings, a garden having the tallest Cactus with in its midst. Tree plantation in this huge garden & clean up to bring back the lost glory of this garden. Join in the plantation along with the kids & the senior citizens

GANDHI JAYANTI
Oct 2nd, Gandhi Jayanti. .joined by children of different schools, doing an awareness program along with nature trail for the students at SGNP accompanied by naturalist, up to Gandhi Tekdi & later visiting Gandhi Museum at Kora Kendra, Borivali West....
